I'm not even sure if this is the right place to post this, but I'm pretty darned excited.

Got a call from a friend today and she says... "you do photography right?"

I'm like... yeah....

Well, it seems her father was a budding photographer about 5 years ago and then passed away. She's had all this lighting equipment in her basement and asked if I wanted it! There are 4 studio flash units, as well as backdrop rolls, stands, umbrella, slave flashes, clamps, etc. I realize that it's pretty old, but hell, it's better than what I had... cause I didn't have ANY. LOL

Here are a few pics on the fly... I realize I have a lot of work to do to perfect the equipment, but just wanted to try it out and share the good news.

Congratulations! That's pretty cool! Lighting costs a small fortune and I don't imagine 5 year old equipment is that big of a deal. Have fun! :D

    Very cool!
Glad to hear the good news for you! I'm slightly jealous, but I wouldn't be human if I wasn't.

I'm sure you'll have a great time getting your gear dialed into what you need it to do for you.

Had a chance to play a little last night. Wondering if folks wouldn't mind commenting on these and letting me know what might have been done to improve on it. I used one lamp down left of the subject (with a shoot through umbrella), one lamp down right of the subject with barn doors pretty wide open, and one lamp slightly up left of the subject (focused on hair with barn doors closed substantially to direct light).
