Motion/Spinning Question...

I saw some really cool pictures where it looks like everything but the subject is spinning. It made me really dizzy, lol. How in the world do you do that?

    That's the winning challenge shot. John's EXIF indicates camera: 5D, lens 40mm, f/22, 1/3 sec. exposure.

    He took the shot while swinging on a hammock which was stationary relative to the background which seems to be in motion. That perspective and his exposure (not to mention the great composition) allowed for the effect of the blur.
