Great link. Look for more pics from that area as I think it'll be my new haunt as driving around sure beats walking around now that it's cold. :D

Latin for "Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews" is "Iesvs Nazarenvs Rex Iudaeorvm" and the acronym for this title is INRI. Latin uses the letter "I" instead of the English "J", and "V" instead of "U" (i.e., Jesus Nazarenus Rex Judaeorum). The English translation is then "Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews."

Thanks Skippy, that's exactly what the link David posted said. Here's a crop of another capture I took from much closer. I messed with the exposure in RAW to bring out the details so the plaque is visible.

Hey, Chad... i'm not sure if it's appropriate to give CC here, but I'm going to do it anyway!

LOVE the last shot, very beautiful, but obviously not a contender for "silhouette". But it might be if it truly were a silhouette....

The first shot is great, but I would love to see it at a 1/3 point. there's just too much black at the bottom for my tastes with such an amazing sky. I think a crop that was closer would also show the texture and detail of the edge before it hits the sky....

Oh, wait. Since I'm hoping to enter, I mean give it MORE black at the bottom and get further away. Yeah, that's it.mwink.gif

Great captures - both of them. thumb.gif

Love the 1st shot, but removing a lot/most of the black at the bottom would really elevate this shot even more!!

ZOMG! No, if that were the image I wanted I would allready have done that. I wanted the "mass" (pardon the pun) at the bottom to bother people. It's intentional.

Don't worry, I'm not trying to win the challenge. I will not enter pics in the challenge thread again.

heh-- I would've actually gone for the square crop as well, taking out most if not all of the black, but if you're going for a heaven/hell division I could see why you did what you did.

Thanks. For me the joy is in being forced to shoot a specific scene. it's made me a much better photographer. I'll continue to enjoy that.

Hey Truth! Personally, I like all the mass of black in the shot. It speaks "volumes" to me and your message is clear! I will miss your shots in the challenges...in my opinion the quality of your photography raised the caliber of the entries. I do hope you will continue to post your interpretations for the challenge subjects...I think they are good inspiration to others as well as increasing your skills.

    Thanks for the kind words.

Awais, that's pretty interesting how things translate. Even more interesting how the old Jewish names and history figure into both Christian and Muslim theology given the problems the world faces.
