My cable company gave all it's subscribers to it's base high speed internet a HUGE boost in download and upload speeds! For free! They claim 10Mb downloads and 1Mb uploads. So I went out to Speakeasy and ran the speed test. They were right! Smoking fast!....

    Wow. You're lucky.

    I get 1096kbps/down and 406kbps/up.

I've not seen speeds like that at home, either.

I couldn't believe they did it. The letter came in the mail about a week ago and I ran the speed test just a few days ago. We have a 45Mb internet feed at work (ok, I know that's bigger than my home connection), and we pay thousands of dollars per month for that! I'm only paying about $35 per month after my multi-service discount.

That's nice and fast. I get about 2900 down and 300 up. I feel so slow. :cry :D

Hm... I'm in the Cincinnati area too - who is your provider?

edit: since you said "cable", I guess it's Time Warner / Roadrunner. I need to call them, since I certainly didn't get a boost! Any more details you can provide regarding this deal? Did the upgrade have a "name" or anything?

Nope ;) I actually live in northern KY.... It's Insight Communications. I've always been very impressed with them.

By the way, nice bridge shots. Did you know Roebling also built the Brooklyn bridge? Cool :)

I did, actually. I researched him a bit when I took the shots (mainly because I wanted to spell his name correctly!). Thanks for the compliment on the shots!

Too bad you're not on RR! I'm getting absolutely terrible upload speeds...

I've heard other people at work complain about RR too. The thing is, in my area the cable network if fairly new. I didn't even have cable available until about 5 or 6 years ago. They seem to be doing upgrades pretty often too..I don't know. I just know it's always been very fast where I am.
