So I've tried to discern the differences, but I'm having a little trouble
What are the main differences between the Canon EOS 30d and the Rebel XTi?
I am Trevor and I have upgraded:

The XTi has a 10MP sensor and the 30D has an 8MP sensor, probably the same one as in the 20D.
There are more similarities than differences, but the main differences:
The 30D is a more responsive camera, with a faster shooting rate.
The 30D has an ISO 3200.
The 30D has spot metering.
The 30D has an apparently better shutter mechanism.
The 30D has a better frame and chassis.
The 30D has a considerably larger battery.
Different remotes.
Either camera is capable of delivering very similar images to the other.

Thanks Ziggy! Well responsiveness is very important and the higher ISO I'm sure is useful, but dang it's close to twice the price.

then all will become clear
also the 30d has a magnesium alloy chassis, the rebel xti(400d) is some type of plastic, as far as i know.
