In mock-turtleneck land, we have Adium, a client that supports everything, including GoogleTalk. Does a similar one exist for Windows? Trillian does everything BUT googletalk.

EDIT: Isn't Google Talk just Jabber, really? Does Trillian do Jabber?

Check that link for a step-by-step.
Also check out www.miranda-im.org for a free, open source alternative to Trillian. It too supports Jabber/Google.
see above, i know Pro can do it, but not the free/lite version

Hahahaha, I thought only an someone as anti-Mac as me could come up with calling Mac users mock turtlenecks. That's almost as bad...well, maybe I exaggerated a bit earlier, but it sure ain't a compliment.
fwiw it seems to work fine in Trillian 3 Pro.

Did you notice my link to the Miranda chat software? Free.

No knock on you, Doc... it's just funny that depending on what industry you're in, something else should always be free.
I also use Trillian (non-Pro).
and btw, I've given up, I don't want to talk to anyone anyway!

Guilty! I am a software nazi (part of my day job)... I think Trillian is a cut above the others, and I keep *meaning* to actually buy a copy. It's hard when the free version does all I want.
Not quite. The protocol and exchange of email is "free" unless you consider the cost of an Internet connection in the first place. Also, while the email services may be free, more often than not the software to read and send email is not -- whether it be included in the cost of the OS or as part of a suite of programs.
Sure, there are free email programs just as there are free IM programs. It's a matter of whether those free offerings give you the features that their commercial counterparts do.
I bought Trillian Pro several years ago. Paid for it once, been using it literally every day since. Good return on the "investment".
