Problems with replacement service by 17th ST Photo?

I gotta say, I'm damned pleased with the speed of delivery of the battery grip and the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 lens that I ordered from them via Amazon.com. Delivery time was two days. Heck, I've been waiting a week now for the dadgum camera to show up from another retailer!

The grip appears to be in great shape, but the lens has a large chunk of debris on the inside surface of the outer lens. When I say large, I mean about one mm in size.

I sent an e-mail to 17th ST. Have any of you had dealings, good or bad, with getting faulty items replaced/repaired?

I've heard great reviews about this lens (except for the plastic body); that it's a great all-around lens that will see a lot of life on my camera body (Rebel XTi). If that's so, I don't want to have to PhotoShop out that flaw in every "keeper" shot that I take.

Any experience with these guys?

Thanks,
Brad

I've not dealt with them, but their reseller ratings look OK:

That debris could be an indicator of damage, so I would not recommend even mounting the lens on a camera. An exchange is definitely the way to go, even though it probably would have minimal impact on the imaging of the lens.

    Update:

After several days, no response to my e-mail, so I gave them a call. The person I spoke with was quite helpful. He said he didn't remember seeing an e-mail from me, but asked for my address and said he would send me a form to print out to have the lens replaced.

Not perfect, but nobody is. If this replacement goes smoothly, I'll probably order from them again.
