I assume no flash (which is why I really like your pics, they look very natural)

Thanks everyone...I loved that little girl too. She had this priceless look on her face and her hands on her knees...like she was thinking "what's the holdup here?"

Thanks Randy, these were all taken with either the D200 & Sigma 30mm/1.4 or D2X and Nikkor 85mm/1.4. They're all at F2, iso200 and 1/640 if I recall. Definitely no flash...I really prefer the natural light of the arena. I actually prefer it to the strobes that the arena photogs use but that's just my pref. ne_nau.gif

Edit: Correction...I don't have the EXIF in front of me but I do think the shot of the coach is with the D2X & Nikkor 200mm/2.

#1 is my favorite with all the Devils hitting the offensive glass (though lacking inside position). The cheerleader is very cute, though I wish all her knees were in the frame. Good shot of Gail looking like she always does on the court, intense!

Thanks...you know I cropped out her knees on purpose in PP. Not sure why but it just didn't look good that way. ne_nau.gif

Edit: #1 is my favorite too...I was playing around with angles and that one lined up nicely. Thanks for looking.

boy do i agree w/ u on the natrual light...i hate the look of flash or strobes and it's very distracting for the players and fans...

The few arena photogs that I've shot with have used 28-300 range zooms. Tons of flexibility for sports but when they hit 300 they're at 5.6 so they don't have much choice but to strobe if they want cleaner iso's. I just prefer the light and crispness in a quality prime...I probably lose more shots but I also prefer to not shoot at iso800+ and my spiderman skills for hanging arena strobes are severely lacking. eek7.gif

2.8 is min A for me
    I have no prob shooting iso1600 on my 30d & 800 on the d200...i prefer a zoom, usually the 70-200 2.8 but lately i prefer f2 or f1.8 primes
I tried the canon 85 1.8 USM for FB last night. I had to wait for alot of shots but what I got w/o flash was worth waiting for
I'll try the 85 1.8 next week for BB and maybe borrow a new sigma 50-150 2.8 as well
