A group of us go to the same road, day after day, week after week, trying to get some eagle shots. I got a few today, but they are cropped a bunch.

All shots taken with a Canon XTi with a canon 400mm L F5.6 lens.

Sunrise, ya got to get up early to catch em.

Lots of brush removal for this one.

Excellent captures Dave. Perfect exposure on the second shot. Have you tried to bring out some of the shadow detail on the juvenile captures?

I love the sunrise shot and the last eagle. Superb!

P.S. Technically, you should resize the sunrise for 800 pixels wide for the challenge. Definitely one of my favorites there so far.

    Thanks guys.

Harry, I did what I could to bring out the shadows. If I go farther, it just doesn't hold up. The color noise really starts to show through.

Chris, I haven't read the rules for some time for the challenges, but I'm sure that you're right. I'll change it tonight.

Yeah, I hadn't even thought about getting the sunrise shots when I went down there this morning. I just got lucky to be in a good spot to pull over and snap a few off.

    Thanks again guys.

    .

I suppose there are numerous ways to do this....but, what I sometimes do, when all else fails, is to do a color mask. Select the black in the color mask and then feather the mask a few pixels so it will blend in better. Then adust exposure or sometimes the gamma. That way you can bring out some detail in the heavy shadows and not touch the rest of the image.

Almost forgot! Fine shots, Dave. I really like the sunrise a lot.

    Thanks again.

Ric, I'm using Elements 4. As far as I know, it doesn't have Masks.ne_nau.gif

Fine photography, Dave. I like the clarity, something that interests me because I am thinking of buying a 400mm Canon prime. I, too, like the eagle beginning flight off the tree (or on it).
