Hello - The wife and I are shopping for a digi for her mother. She is a first time user to digi cams, and well we need a intro model for her in the $100 dollar range.

Most shots will be inside and I've started looking around.

The fugi finepix A500 seems to get farily decent reviews in this range.

Can anyone lend a hand?

Thanks

A great resource for suggestions about cameras is at:

    http://www.steves-digicams.com/best_cameras.html

Look at the "Entry Level" category.

Notice that the FinePix A400 is listed, and if you look at that camera, the A500 is very similar and mentioned as the "bigger sibling" to the A400. The A500 has less noise at ISO 100 and is just a bit more in cost, but still pretty slow handling, which could be frustrating for candids.

The Canon PowerShot A430 appears to be a much better overall candidate. Read the conclustion page here:

I saw some on Target.com that were real simple and cheap and at the price it leaves elbow room for it's treatment.
I am Trevor and I have upgraded:
    Canon 40D
    Canon EF-S 17-85 IS
