A little background before you look at the picture. I don't know if anyone of you know that at my full time job I'm a Police Officer, and on the SWAT team.

This is what I like to call, "My Point Of View"

    Interesting thought.

One technical detail that you might want to think about is that the challenge has an 800 pixel limit (including borders) for every submission.

imo needs more of the gun showing, sort of at an angle, otherwise it's hard to know what it is... could be a joystick or somesuch thing.

    excellent idea!

I tried that Andy, but it seems to be out of focus, you get part of the gun, but the rest of the gun and your hand is out of focus.

    But I'll keep trying :)

I was using the 50mm 1.8, but have since switched to the 18-55 which seemed to work out pretty good :)

okay... i'd stay with the fifty - how about using a tripod and flash? stop down to f/8 or f/11. now angle the weapon, a bit....

mebbe try less arm, so you'll need to try the kit lens maybe too, goign a bit wider .... and not crowding the gun so much upper right... and some more light .. light light

    Southpaw, huh?

Neat idea. I've played with that approach in the past on advrider. Decided to do a few fresh ones just for grins. Wanna see 'em?

Maybe it's just me, but I think you need to loose the watch. Your arm leads the viewers eye into the shot, but the dark watch band interrupts the flow.

    Barrel is out of focus.

btw, that was a Colt Cold Cup Trophy in the middle photo.

Much better without the watch nod.gif

The light on the gun looks great, but there is too much light on your arm now. Is there a way you could cut back on the amount of light hitting your arm while keeping the same light on the gun?

Yea haven't had a chance to clean it from when we qualified the other night, it was pouring the rain. Gotta love glocks though, only thing that is rusting is the sights :)

Rust just adds to the appeal, IMO. You go, Cletus! I am still concerned, myself, about the light arm.

I don't know how experienced you are with post processing, but that arm is not blown, if you can just isolate it and darken it, or burn it in, or something. So as not to distract.

Too bad you have to have the arm at all. How about a black sweater for just a trial. You have time, a good subject, kind of. I would play with it.

Hey, any way you can show the speeding bullet, too.rolleyes1.gif

ginger (do you have a german shepherd? To stand there and look like a pro dog)
How about a person as the target? Nah, can only do that when it is serious stuff. If you have to do it on your job, don't forget to photograph it.

Just looking at it again, please keep playing with it. I realized I was so tired of skin, I actually liked the watch.

It definitely has potential. My first thought was black gun and black background will never work. Don't think that is the problem, can be separated by light, but that may be the problem with the skin?????
