Sizing Problem in CS2: Help Request

I have an image, actually several images that I need to make into 5x7 and 4x6 prints. My problem is I am cropping out too much of the background and the final results look bad when I use CS2's cropping tool and set the dimensions to the above mentioned sizes.

Is there a way to make a photo somehow fit in to a 4x6 or 5x7 size without losing the original composition? Sorry if this sounds dumb but I am hoping there is some kind of solution to this.

I am including an image that I want to make into a 4x6 and 5x7....the original image size is 3488 x 2416 pixels
Cheers,
Monte

Hmm...the problem is that you want to take a landscape format and turn it into portrait. The best you can do is to go into Image->Canvas Size, anchor the image in the lower left and add some space to the top of the image. Then--on a separate layer--clone the background to fill the new area. Flatten the image, then crop it to taste. The composition will not be exactly the same, but it might work.

    Just a thought.

Here is a crude 5X7 crop example.
