Color Effects shrinks file size?

Just noticed that Color Effects does a pretty good job of removing color casts. Why does it also considerably shrink the file size? That point is not mentioned anywhere in the Color Effects help page.

    Well, it depends on how large your Original was in the first place. We are using a very small amount of JPG Compression when we save the file after you apply the color effect.
