Purchased on FM from a fellow photog from Denver, CO.
Man, I was missing this lens!
I have been borrowing it from my boss until recently, but as of today I got my very own copy:-)!

Now I have a complete coverage from 10mm to 560mm :ivar :
  • EF-S 10-22
  • EF-S 17-85 IS USM
  • EF 50mm f/1.8
  • EF 70-200L f/2.8 IS USM
  • EF 100-400L IS USM
  • (and TC x1.4 that gives me 560:-)
I'm happy! :clap

When I was in Alcochete the other day I hold a 5D and found it very pleasant.
I liked the handle as I said, the viewfinder and the LCD.

I have been to the bank to ask for money but I gave up.

    For the moment. :D

Anyway, you do know much more about photography than I do and you are much more addicted than myself rolleyes1.gif

Did it go OK your work ?

Well, with the crop factor my lower FL is only 16, not 10...:cry Hence the need to the FF body mwink.gif

Thank you! I was kinda short on the tele side. I'm still no birder, but at least I'm OK for a football game or a school play:-)

You meant: the for a FF body AND a new wide angle. After all, that FF body would exlude usage of the 10-22 and the 17-85.

Anyhow: congrats on that 100-400. I saw it in action during an African safari, where the guide shot with Canon, and it produced beautiful images.
enjoy being here while getting there

    congrats on the 100-400,

it was one of my favorite lenses and id love to have it again!
every time i think about rebuying it two things go off in my head:
    (1) will they release a new IS version soon after I buy and
    (2) that i already own a canon 400 f/5.6

But stilll id love to have the lens again.

One suggestion I have and it probably isnt a good one but.....
    instead of the 17-85 ef-s and 50 f/1.8,
    get the 17-55 IS F/2.8 and 85 f/1.8

CONGRATS AGAIN! Its a great lens!

You're correct, I meant exactly that, thank you for pointing it out! thumb.gif

As I mentioned earlier, I've been using a borrowed 100-400 for almost 9 months and was very pleased. Now that I had my own copy (and in a much beter condition, I must add:-) I expect even better performance:-).

But Nik with a FF body you can't use EF-S lenses, so the EF-S 10-22 is equilavent to the 16-35mm in focal length anyway, when comparing 1.6 crop and FF.

I know, I know... I would need EF-compatible WA. I think Sigma is making 12 or something...

Anyway, all this FF talk is a far future, for me that is. To get properly equipped FF camera (I mean with a at least few really good wide and medium lenses - probably fast primes - filters, let alone accessories) one must dump about 5Gs... I simply don't make that much on my calendars - yet:-)

Boy, I need a couple of Beverly Hills style weddings.headscratch.gif
Or maybe bribe Angelo to hire me next time his company decides make a Big Bucks Ad rolleyes1.gif

But you what they say: it's not the camera (or, in this case, the lens) - it's how you use it:-) mwink.gif
