If I recognize the location correctly, that's a really "fun" place to shoot. I've taken several shots at that very spot myself but that was while I was still packing a Canon Powershot S1 IS. Great conversions! Sharp details and dramatic shade variations.
B&W conversion
I found and downloaded this B@W conversion guide. I'm not sure I like it any more than using the channel mixture method, but in any case, these are some awesome B&W images!
Nicely done! The stream may be a bit too contrastly ... but all-in-all a very very good job. Do you have any wet darkroom expereince? I have found that most "pure" digital photogs create pretty muddy B&Ws.

Yes- back in the day I used to help my dad in the darkroom quite a bit on b&w's.
I think the shots are cool
but....I think you need more tonal range in highlights/shadows for a broader spectrum which would make the images come alive.

The conversions look good. I specially like #1, #2, and #5. Nice rich dark tones.

Yep I am enjoying B&W more and more, and lately have started doing a few myself.
This is a nice series, I like how you have captured the turning motion of the wheel in your first shot
