I went to the mall to HELP my mother carry Christmas presents and to help her buy a little point and shoot for my brother as well as memory cards, batteries/chargers, and a case.

I ended up with THIS instead....
a1lens.jpg

AND, if that didn't put me far enough in the hole I also bought a 17" 2gig laptop. AM I STUPID?! "Sorry everybody, I decided that Christmas is the season of giving and I'm giving myself everything." :huh Maybe I can learn to knit in the next two weeks??

My first shot with it. Just a quick point and press because I was checking to make sure the aperture and shutter speed were okay, having never been able to shoot at 2.8 before :)

Which was 1/2000 F 2.8 @ 200mm.

I posted in another thread about contrast/exposure though. First time shooting RAW too. A lot of the shots turned out a little bit dark. They looked good on the LCD, but a little dark on my monitor at home and so I used RAW adjustments for the first time and upped exposure on most of them by .33 or .67. Should I play with contrast too? Are RAW files usually less vivid or was it just colorless subjects (brown/black/white horses against leafless trees (more brown)?

    Christina,

Two weeks is not much time to knit anything, but plenty of time to meet and marry rich!rolleyes1.gif

You are not "stupid", just a little crazy, lens crazy! (Well maybe "techno crazy" since you bought the laptop as well.)

You may have to give everyone beautiful images for Christmas, so be it.

Is there the chance that these equestrian images could bring any revenue? What else can you do to generate income? If you leverage your purchases to create income, you can call them "investments", and everyone will understand.

Get creative and get busy (and most especially remind me to take my own advice).

Haha yes funny how latin does that, but "Qui multum habet, plus cupit" is probably a better one for me considering the topic of this thread :)rolleyes1.gif

Do you know any rich men would like to be met and married? mwink.gif

Yes I can make money with the riding pictures. In my area I'm fairly reasonably priced. Even at a small show (less than 20 people) I'm still making a couple hundred off picture sales. I've done some ad work for a company and I make double that, but they've moved way out of state and I'm no longer convienent. :cry I just need to wait for the weather to get nice and get to a horse show every weekend and then my camera would pay for it's self :) Rather, the lens would pay for it's self. :)

I'm still looking for a "Sugar Momma" for myself. I could stand being a "kept man", at least for a while. (Sue, the love in my life, would probably object.ne_nau.gif)

For you, I think Warren Buffet is still available. (Second wealthiest, 44 Billion, but just gave away much of it. Still has enough to live on.mwink.gif)

Hehe, no I thought Sinterklaas and Zwarte Piet were supposed to bring it to ME! Oh dear, is that what I've done wrong every year?headscratch.gif:D

We have a Mozart Cafe German Deli in DC. They don't carry a whole lot, but it's better than nothing and they have Niederegger Marzipan and Schwermer Marzipan :)

Uh-oh! Maybe I don't want a sugar daddy, if he's gonna keep me from buying stuff! I need a new long lens before the GNP shootout next fall. Any suggestions? mwink.gif

    Hi, Christina

You did get that stuff on sale, didn't you?

Re: Raw Workflow - I found a good RAW tutorial on the net, but now I don't recall where it wasne_nau.gif

I can share mine with you if you like - it's reasonable thorough. Let me know!
