This was my first actual Bridal shoot. Her name is Amanda; and she has expericence as a model in NYC. Shes 25yo and is getting married Dec 31, 06 . I know the rules are one photo, but since this was a one time shoot, I wanted to know what you guys think. Once there all uploaded to her gallery there will be about 800.

Hi Gary, nice poses, lovely subject.

The first three are between 1/3 and 2/3s stop underexposed on the dress and subject. The last one, seems a bit too saturated, relative to the way I think her complexion is based on the other three.

Here's one quick correction, only focusing on the subject, not the bg or rest of the scene. And with the original, large file, I'd be more careful not to lose any detail in the dress. And it could be a lot better than this, too. You have a bit of blue cast in the dress, too, that should be dealt with.

Wow! She got some serious bang for her buck. I'm surprised your flash wasn't starting to melt!

These are just gorgeous! Wonderful job! I think Andy had some good CC for you.

One thing I would rethink, though, is how many photos you are giving her. I generally take several of the same pose and then I choose the best one or MAYBE 2, but no more than that, of each pose. For someone to have to wade through 800 photos of themselves, it can get hard. I try to whittle down with my "photographer's eye" to get to the best of the best. I try to have about 1/4 or so of the photos I've taken. (If this were a wedding, that might be different. But since it's a bridal shoot, I'd whittle it down some.)

    Just a thought!

    Good luck! Awesome shoot!

I like the everything about the first shot because she seems so relaxed and natural, EXCEPT the too big shoes make this seem like a set up shot instead of a real bride even though I KNOW that's not the case.

At first I really liked the second one, another nice relaxed pose and the little smile makes it seem like she has a Mona Lisa secret, but the more I look at the more it almost looks like she might just have a headache. headscratch.gif

Number 3, the lighting looks cold and she looks bored. Also, the veil covering her shoulders and the bodice of the gown is so sheer I first thought it was strangly soft, since the rest of the image is nice and sharp.

Number 4 is GREAT! I love that she's happy and smiling and it looks so natural! Here the veil works very well and nice job getting the ring in the image as well. What color are her eyes? Eyes are one thing I REALLY want to improve in my photography and I have a feeling that her eyes are blue, but they're too dark to tell for sure. I don't know if you have lights, but the recent "studio" shots I've seen in here with people's alien bees are amazing. If I had the time, $$ , and space I'd get some!

Again, nice job and I really like that last one!

    Info
:D Ok guys thanks for the CC, just so we are all on the same page.

The Bride USED to model, so knowing that ahead of time, I said to her you pose yourself and I'll just shoot what I see.

This was good expericence for me, because now I have more posing ideas.
Yes their are 800 shots, but shes not getting all of them. Not only that, but I'm sure since she used to model, she'ed prob toss most of those anyway. I use my online galleries for two things. Proofing and Selling. You never know the pictures I may not post, would be the ones that people like.

As far as getting better light, yesterday I went online, to BHPHOTO and bought.

So I will mount my flashes on the tripods, I also bought a wireless system for my canon flashes.
Im also going to use this to light up the reception so I hope my pictures wil be that much better.

    Again thanks for the comments.

Hey Andy, I figured out where the BLUe was coming from. I screwed up the white balance while working on my raw images. I wont do that again. :D
