that is what has fallen so far here in sunny Edmonton. And last week we hit -30C. So, for those that measure with the other ruler, 58 cm is 22.8 inches. And -30C is REALLY COLD!!

I hate winter. I have had enough driving in blizzards to last me til I am grey and shrivelled up.

Okay - felling a bit better now that is off my shest!

It looks like we share the same attitude towards this season. Actually, it was one of the primary reasons I moved to California...:-)

For you it should be even easier: simply change Ca to CA rolleyes1.gif

I don't mind the cold as much as I mind a sudden change. Two days ago I was walking around without a coat and I was hot. Today I'm walking around with a coat and I'm freezing.

Remind me to rub your nose in some snow during Northern Hemisphere summer.

For those that are too lazy to find a temp converter, -30C is about -20F. Ann, that sounds like ice fishing weather. My avatar was taken in about -25F and around 24" of snow up in Central Wisconsin. So I can feel your pain. Now to truelly understand how cold that is when ice fishing go outside and sit in the same spot for an hour while dipping your hands in the water every once in a while rolleyes1.gif. I love winter!

    Hey guys

Well, gus, there is a line in a novel my dh reads and rereads:
"I long to be too hot". And, even though I am 'of a certain age' (see my sig) I do...I really do long to be too hot. We had a splendid summer of high temps, just wish it could last.

And marlinspike, as for quick turns in temp, well Albertas unofficial slogan is
"don't like the weather, wait ten minutes". It's not so bad in Edmonton as southern Alberta where chinooks happen frequently, but we do have wild swings in temps regularly.

Finally, Nick, ice fishing at -24 is just...plain...NUTS!!!

It was hovering near zero today. The city says it will take 3 weeks and cost $3M to clear the roads properly. And that does not do anything for private parking lots at shopping malls etc.

The light at the end of this tunnel is that we go to the Dominican in less than three weeks.......

Heh, Nik, I bet it would be harder for me to immigrate to the US than you!!! But some day, for some substantial length of time, I shall reside in a tropical locale. Mark my words!
