Does anyone know what kind of hawk this is?

Looks like either a Coopers or a Sharp Shinned to me E.B., they are very similar. Nice capture.

Thanks Nick, I was leaning towards Red Tailed but I'm not sure. He flew off right after I took this so I couldn't get a better shot.

i'm guessing a red tailed hawk...
coopers usually have wide bands on the tail and the feather on the left clearly looks like a red-tail feather. Also, cooper's eyes are usually a more yellow/orange and red-tails are usually not as intensely colored...but i'm just a rank amateur at this stuff so maybe one of the experts will chime in...

15524779-Ti.gif Cooper's hawk's also have red eyes, not yellow. Also the plain white patch on the top part of the breast marks it as a red-tail and not a cooper's.

Alright alright, so I was wrong. I conceed that it is a Red Tail. But it still looks small for a Red Tail ne_nau.gif.
