Looks like either a Coopers or a Sharp Shinned to me E.B., they are very similar. Nice capture.

Thanks Nick, I was leaning towards Red Tailed but I'm not sure. He flew off right after I took this so I couldn't get a better shot.

i'm guessing a red tailed hawk...
coopers usually have wide bands on the tail and the feather on the left clearly looks like a red-tail feather. Also, cooper's eyes are usually a more yellow/orange and red-tails are usually not as intensely colored...but i'm just a rank amateur at this stuff so maybe one of the experts will chime in...

Cooper's hawk's also have red eyes, not yellow. Also the plain white patch on the top part of the breast marks it as a red-tail and not a cooper's.

Alright alright, so I was wrong. I conceed that it is a Red Tail. But it still looks small for a Red Tail .
