Heron or Egret or ?

Took these shots of a beautiful shy bird that caught me totally off gaurd and wouldn't let me get anywhere close. Could someone please help me identify it. My bird book makes it to be either a redish egret of a heron. Please help. Wish the pics were clearer andcloser but man was this bird shy and it had it's eye on me. Thanks a bunch.

Unless you live in Florida these birds are very hard to get close to, so you did a pretty good job. Just for reference, here is a picture of a Reddish Egret taken by our very own Pathfinder. If you are looking for a better bird guide check out Sibleys, it is about the best out there.
