Sunrise at the Peak

Thought I'd share with you a shot I digitized last weekend. The day before was very snow and that night we had freezing fog (hoar frost) and I knew the mountains would take on a whole new look in the morning. I got up before sunrise, 0F temp, windchill well below -12F-- so cold taking a deep breath made one cough. The mountain is known as Pike's Peak-- a healthy 14,000+ foot moutain. The fog in the foreground is what was left over of the freezing fog and it blanketed the city of Colorado Springs, as seen here:

And finally, sunrise-- even though the sun didn't help at all in warming my very cold hands! Taken at 07:02AM.

Here is an example of some of the frost from the fog:

C&C's welcomed...Thanks.

Nice shots of the peak, looks like you were out east of town. I lived in The Springs for about 20 yrs before moving out to the Pacific Northwest. some days I really miss the place, Other days not. I do kinda like to Oregon coast. But the funny thing is they thing Mount Hood is a proper mountain. headscratch.gif
