All great shots - it makes me miss home... Grew up in Utah and have family in AZ. Thanks for sharing.

These are simply wonderful images, Adam. Great clarity and colors. Super compositions. Amazing that you did these with a point&shoot. You'd be scary with a DSLR.

I just moved to northern AZ. I guess all these places are up near Zion, right? I need to spend more time up there. Thank you for putting names of places to the pictures. That's very helpful.

    Your fox shot is enviable.

    Great shots!

First one looks a bit oversaturated... maybe too much post work. Others are great though.

Wow. Intense colours in that first one!

I think my favorite is the one take in Antelope Canyon. The colours, shapes and light all really combine well. thumb.gif

    I love #2. thumb.gif

I agree that #1 is probably a little oversaturated.

Thanks Joel!! I was lucky enough to make 5 trips to AZ this year.

All of these shots were taken within 25 to 30 miles of each other and centered around the town of Page, AZ (about a 2hr drive from Zion).

Thanks, Adam. 5 trips to AZ from MN, huh? Dude, you have a serious habit. :giggle

It turns out Page is only 4 hours from Kingman, according to google maps. That makes it doable as a day trip. I take it you probably spent a few days in the area?

I'd also like to ask you about that great fox capture, if you don't mind telling. Was this taken on a hike? If so, how far in? It looks like you were pretty close, although the fox looks pretty relaxed. How'd you do that? I'm pretty keen on wildlife photography in general. Is there a particular place in that area that's better than others for wildlife?

Thanks, and sorry about all the questions. You've really inspired me here.

They are all super, but I like No. 2 and The Fox the best. thumb.gif

I agree, the colors (blues) are a little rich but believe it or not the shot was straight out of the camera (Sony 828) with no post work to the colors (only cropping).

I used a polarizer and shot it at a fast speed and it really brought out the blues.

Grimace: I spent 1 day in the Vermillion Cliffs Wilderness Area and a half day at Horseshoe bend and Antelope Canyon. I was in that area earlier this year and kind of knew where to go and what time of day to be there.

I'd also like to ask you about that great fox capture, if you don't mind telling. Was this taken on a hike?

Grimace: Yes, I was in the South Coyote Butte area of the Vermillion Cliffs Wilderness Area

If so, how far in? It looks like you were pretty close, although the fox looks pretty relaxed. How'd you do that?

Grimace: Based on where I spotted him, I'd have to say he spends a lot of his time in that "cave like" formation. The photo was taken from a distance with my XTI and a 500mm lens. However, when I came closer to the cave with my Sony 828 he seemed like he could care less.

From the point of where I parked the car to where the shot was taken on the path was 1.2 miles. The Vermillion Cliffs area is full of wildlife and a great location for shooting pics. However, you need a permit to get there and if you want to go to northern section you should plan 3 months in advance (this is the home of "The Wave").

One last thing. Make sure you have a high clearance automobile if you go. A regular car WILL NOT DO!!

If you or anyone else is thinking of going to the greater Page area please feel free to contact me on exact locations or tips on permits and how to get them.

I'm pretty keen on wildlife photography in general. Is there a particular place in that area that's better than others for wildlife?

Thanks, and sorry about all the questions. You've really inspired me here.
