Time once again for the company to earn its keep. The six weeks of Nutcracker performances are the only real money maker for a big ballet company, and Boston Ballet is no exception.

Very nice, but they seem to be suffering from jpeg compression artifacts.
Did you take these during a performance, or a rehearsal. Do you shoot for the company, or did you just bring in a camera and shoot?

    Nice series, John!
I can see all that time you've spent shooting the rehearsals is paying off now:-)thumb.gif
Which one you shoot it with? 85mm?

Whatever problem they have it isn't jpeg compression artifacts. These were shot in raw and saved with highest jpeg quality after I processed them.

I have a contract with Boston Ballet (I don't have to pay them unless I make some money is what it comes to.) These were shot at a dress rehearsal.

First two with 85mm f/1.2, the rest with 135mm f/2.0. I have some of the Arabian Dance with 85mm f/1.2 (nothing else can get that low light.) I haven't gotten around to processing them yet.

These are fabulous. Your compositions are really good, in addition to the other technical stuff (lighting, timing) that you have nailed.

    Awe inspiring! Amazing! Wow!

These are really shining examples of quality work.

Are they from the 5D or the MKII?

Good stuff and thanks for sharing,

Superb work. I must say I envy you being there. Theatres are fantstic lightwise for photography.
