A few raptors
I always feel like a bit of a cheater when I post in this forum since most of my nature shooting has been in zoos. These are no exception, but since I think they came out better than my previous zoo shots, I thought I would share them.
All shot with a Canon 20D, 70-200 f/4L with 1.4x TC II.
Whaddaya think?

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
That must be some zoo. What do they have, some kind of huge raptor aviary?

The Madrid zoo isn't fantastic, but it's not bad. They do an exhibition once a day of raptors and exotic birds in a large, open amphitheater. The bad news is that it's hard to get a shot against a decent background (other than the sky) but the good news is that you don't have to wait for hours for the birds to show up. They also have a large number of cranes, geese and pelicans that fly around free, so there are plenty of shooting opportunities.

Cheers,
I think zoos can be hard places to shoot. They usually won't let you enter in the early morning light, and won't let you stay in the twilight and sunset time either.

Thanks, PF. You're right...no sweet light allowed in this zoo, and the raptor show goes on at noon. All things considered, I would rather go on a safari...well, all things except budget.
Thanks for sharing!
