They are different. If you wish, setup an A-record on your domain host. Here's all the details on that, please read carefully:

Near the bottom of Andy's link it says what to do. I just did this with mine and now I can type hbimaging.com and it works!
If you just want your web address to be http://yourdomain.com instead of something like http://www.yourdomain.com, you can use the symbol instead of inserting the subdomain when setting it up. (A subdomain is the part the proceeds yourdomain.com — www is a common subdomain.) Registrars use the @ symbol to indicate the lack of a domain (rather than just leaving it blank).

Some registrars don't allow CNAMEs with @ symbols. They force you to use an A record instead. The basic principle is the same, but instead of pointing to www.smugmug.com it points to our IP address.

Gotcha: Our IP address might change in the future, causing an A record to break. For this reason we suggest trying a CNAME record first.
Our current IP address is 63.81.134.23

Heres a twist on this thread, any suggestions?
In firefox all is good no matter what I type in:
    http://hooliganunderground.com
    or hooliganunderground.com
    However in safari:
    when 'http://hooliganunderground.com' is entered,
    I get the att response,
but if I the http:// is removed it works ok!?
This is only noticed since I upgraded to OSX 10.4.8 headscratch.gif

    Help!
    Thanks,
    rich56k

Do you have hooliganunderground.com set up as an A-Record to our IP address?

FF and safari add the www. for you that's why you are getting it.

    Rich,

:nono you shouldn't have www pointing to the ip address like that.

Ok I removed it, now I'm back to 'A record':
    "hooliganunderground.com points to 63.81.134.23"
    'CNAME' : "www.hooliganunderground.com points to www.smugmug.com"
(these had been my settings all along 'til the other day)

To reiterate(?) my problem seems that only in Safari (since upgrade to OSX 10.4.8)
if I enter only "hooliganunderground.com" it adds "http://www."
and goes to my site (good)mwink.gif
if the "http://" is already there and I enter "hooliganunderground.com" then I get the att error message (not good):cry
Note when I try same thing at Andy's site it works great either way (??!!)
Am thinking either its register.com or OSX 10.4.8 any thoughts??headscratch.gif

    thanks,

Well still have to give it 24-48 hrs to see but so far so good!
    Thanks Again Andy thumb.gif
