You are sooooooooooooo good at this stuff Brian, you just never cease to amaze me with you Stunning Macro Images
Yup you are indeed the Macro KING :ivar .... Skippy (Australia)
and could come watch you in action while you take these photos! Hey... maybe you could have someone video you?
I lost track of a guy in Germany who used to use one of those stand up magnifiers for his macro work. Think he did mainly bugs...
Love your drops!
Thanks Dee,
Don't think you would find it that interesting see description here http://www.flickr.com/groups/macroviewers/discuss/72157594313729574/
I end up looking like someone paying their devotions on a prayer mat .
I often do these in my front garden , I'm sure the people in the flats over the road find it all very odd as it's normally fairly early in the morning.

How much of your work is published? (More should be.)
ziggy53
Thanks for the compliment ziggy.
I've had some work published ( a two page spread in the Daily Mirror- one of the UKs National papers plus a few pics in an academic book on flies coming out shortly).
I really only "publish" on my Flickr gallery which is fairly popular (about 360000 views) and that keeps me happy plus a lot of interaction with other photogs on how to take the shots.
A great concept I haven't come accross before. Thanks for sharing your experience. I have read your Tutorial on focus stacking. First I had heard of that as well. Always wondered how some managed to get such great DOF yet be so close macro wise. Now I know. Now to set myself up and do some practice. Thanks again, just fabulous work.

Thanks for the comments.
There are obviously other ways of getting greater DOF eg smaller apertures or image cropping but both have their drawbacks.

Skippy- certainly not the King- just lucky enough to practice a lot
Ultravox- Yes they are all focus stacked with 2 to 5 shots.
