Great shots, Mike. I think the first image is superb, looks like you were flying right a long beside it.

Several of these shots look like the birds are landing into their nest and you are as high or higher than the nest. You must be shooting from your backyard again??:D:D Or were these shot at a refuge somewhere. I am curious how you were able to shoot level with the nests. Nice work, Mike.

    Absolutely Superb
Perfect exposure to boot. Excellent series. We don't have those kinds up here in this neck of the woods. Beautifully captured. clap.gif

Thanks Harry. The pelicans were shot at a new spot. I found a "pelican island". It's a small island up the Intracoastal Waterway. It's full of pelicans, cormorants, terns, gulls, GBH and a pair of osprey that play in the bay next to the island. Pretty cool place.

Thanks Jim. Nice of you to say.

The night heron was shot in the backyard. :D

The GBH was taken at the Venice rookery

The rest were taken on the boat. Standing up being dangerous...of course. Hand held with scissors in one hand. eek7.gif:D Ok..I left the scissors at home. Many of the nests are pretty low and make for great shooting.

All taken with the Canon 500mm f/4.

ok....I was just checking to make sure you were paying attention. All taken with the trusty 200mm. Some had the 1.4x tc slapped on (280mm). IIRC the BCNH and osprey were taken with the 200mm alone......no TC.

Thanks Jim. Who needs eagles? I DO!!!!! I know they are in the area....but so far no luck finding them close enough to shoot with the 200mm :cry I think I'll just take some spray paint out to the osprey nests and change my luck. eek7.gif:D
