Australia is in severe drought mode with water restriction the toughest most of us have ever seen in our lives.

My back yard is just about all dead now, but those darn weeds just pop up like flippin daisies water or no water .....why??? :dunno

I stood directly over this little weed and shot down towards the ground, the bud is not much bigger than 1/4 of an inch round, it's very tiny and wasn't opened.....I guess it's got a bit more growing to do before it opens up :D

Taken with Canon 20D + 50mm F1.4 + 3x Kenko Tubes + External Flash and Diffuser, hand held shot, camera in MANUAL Mode.

Weeds can be pretty too :D Enjoy...... Skippy (Australia)

    It's amazing!
I watched a program on a nature channel talking about the aftermath of Fires.
They showed the landscape after a fire year or so later.
The rich vegetation that was coming back was amazing.

Also saw a program about a drought area that got a monsoon rain 1-2x a year.
Was all dead and barren....a week after the rain it looked like the tropics!!

Nature has a way of making good from the bad.

I've got a perfect example of this. Taken on a trip to Yellowstone back in September. The infrared really brings out the new growth where a previous fire had destroyed most of the old growth.

You mean the ENTIRE CONTINENT? Even the Eastern coastlands?

We're no strangers to droughts here in the desert Southwest. There've been droughts so severe that residents in some towns weren't allowed to even take showers!

Very nice! I wonder if this shot would respond to an "out of bounds" treatment?

    Thanks for looking :D

Today we have the smell of smoke yet again in the air, so there has to be fires still burning somewhere .....

Yes fires do generate new life, but its the destruction and loss of lives and animals ect that is the worry.

Lots of places here they cannot get in and fight the fires, I really feel for the Wild Life..... Koalas don't have much of a hope, or possums, and other small land and tree dwelling animals... even sheep.

....... I know there is a circle of life and all things happen for a reason, but I really don't like to see people or animals suffer in the process... Skippy

Thanks Brian I will have to have a look at it rotated :D
I wasn't sure how to do it, I actually did a very slight crop on this shot to remove excess background.

Thanks for your input ......... Skippy (Australia)

Ahhhhh yes I was there last year too, and I got to see where the fires had been, you could see further back into the vegetation as the fire had cleared the land.

The people I was with told me if we had of been here months sooner we would not have seen all that we did, as the trees were so thick you couldn't really see into them.

So Im glad I got to see what it was like after the fires had been through.
