There's only one angle for this type of shot.....hanging on a rope from the ceiling with a macro lens.Heh, honestly though. The center light (I assume its from the ceiling mount) is blown out in the center (back of glass bowl). The 2nd one is best and would work even better with less exposure...say 1/3 to 2/3 -EV.

No, not upside down.... will try with less exposure.... having a really hard time avoiding the blown highlights, the angle did seem to make a difference.... the center light is a flash triggered wireless from under the glass table and through the bowl... I shall try again.........

What a great experiment, I love the colours of the glass balls you using in the bowl.
One thing you need to be very careful with when using glass is DUST
Glass is like a magnet as soon as you wipe it off it comes back.
I like the second image, except for all the dust, I hope you work out the angle for your flash I'm sure you will figure it out.
I'll love to see what your end result is once you figure out the flash
