Asia-How I Spent My Summer-Part 2
How I spent my summer: Or why would anyone want to tour Southeast Asia in the Summer?
Part 2
The 3rd country we visited was Malaysia. We avoided the Malacca Straights by docking on the east coast, at Kuantan, and taking a bus 240K to Kuala Lumpur.
We arrived late in KL, so after checking in to our hotel we headed for the night market to find dinner. One stand provided TV

If you are not used to the fruit Durian, it is the stinkiest fruit ever.

One of the Palace Guards

The Petronas Twin Towers, the highest in the world

Turning around from the Petronas Towers, were these two buildings, that I have no idea their names, but they made an interesting shot.

I would consider this inappropriate motorcycle/scooter footwear

The family that rides together is not necessarily a happy one

A drink stand in the 95 degree heat

Newsstand and waiting women

Flower stall in the KL market

KL is a tough place to ride a bicycle

Vietnam was our next stop, as we sailed up the Saigon River to Ho Chi Minh City.

We were welcomed in Ho Chi Minh City by this nice group of ladies.

We passed this fisherman on the Saigon River

The hard way to load a ship.

I always thought it was hard to carry a case of beer on the back of my motorcycle, but never thought of carrying it in a refrigerator.

Ho Chi Minh City has an interesting utilities infrastructure problem.

This is the only building left at Cam Rang Bay, where I was stationed in the Air Force in 1968. We flew here on our way to Nha Trang on a SAS tour.

School kids at a beach park art festival in Nha Trang.

Buddhist monk at a monastery in Nha Trang.

The menu from our dinner in Nha Trang. It was much better than it sounds.

To get to shore for lunch we had to take the free fairy, a raft operated by 2 guys pulling on a rope from the boat dock to shore, but we had to wade the last 50 feet to shore.

Or you could pay one of these floating baskets to paddle you in to shore.

A loaded Pedi cycle.

Typical dress for women.

Typical traffic in Ho Chi Minh City.

A view from the roof top bar of the Rex Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City.
