Anyone Have ANY Experience With These Guys?

Happy Holidays Everyone,

A few months back our Columbian Boa Rocky Bal Boa passed away due to unknown reasons. We had him for 14 years and over the past few months both my wife and kids have stated how much they miss him. Well taking that hint I went out and started looking for another to replace him.

Unfortunately the Columbian Boas were in real short supply the last few weeks so I turned to this little guy on Saturday

Not the same thing, this is a Burmese (Albino) Python. Well after I picked him up I needed a place to stash him until this morning so I brought him to someone I know who could keep him overnight for me. While I was there last night setting up his holding area I was tagged three times by him. From what I have been reading apparently they are a bit aggresive when young. Anyone have any experience with these and also their behaviors?

Thanks for any advice you might have, and again Happy Holidays

Joe

Sorry to hear of your loss. I can walk about 200 yards & Boa's are hanging around the joint up to 14 feet but we like our cat too much.

Hey Gus, thanks for the reply. That has to be pretty cool having the local wildlife that close to the house. Hey how is that flash remote working out for you? I'm still awaiting delivery of mine.

Burmese pythons can get huge! Ball pythons can get pretty decent size but tend to be smaller. Most of my experience is with ball pythons and rainbow boas. Most of the Burmese pythons I've met have been pussycats, but those were all older ones.

True but the only way to get to that is to raise them from when they are small. I have him pretty mellow after holding him several times a day for the past few days. The wife and kids still won't go near him. I have arrangements with a local reptile place to swap him out for a baby COlumbian Boa which is only suppose to get to about 8 feet. Not an albino, but the regular brown. Definitely not as pretty but if it keeps my wife happy, I aim to please. Too bad that google has this as the first set of pictures you see when you research burmese pythons. (3rd one) Maybe she wouldn't have freaked out so much.

    Have a great night

Joe we have a lot of pythons here (i kept a lot as pets when i was a kid)...i actually stop the car & chase them off the road so they dont get run over if they are sun-baking. Here is one i found on the road the other day. He was about 8 feet or so.

We call them carpet snakes but that is a bit of a blanket name. Still i will never do it with the venomous ones here though...they can move like lightning & if its a bad one you will go toes up if you dont get help real fast.
