If by asking what we think, you want us to shoot out ideas for it, I might try to get another bit of image above the eyebrow--maybe the tanget of the brow and the edge of the image is distracting? But that's one of those ideas that my be full of hooey.

Thanks, you're right..i'll work on it! Just trying something new here so a lot to learn! I also thought the left should either be completely black or lighter as it is..
And no Mitch, this darkness does not fit the person (my boyfriend) at all!

Oh, you mean technical comments? First thought is that it looks overprocessed and undercomposed. Ooo...that's brutal. Sorry.

I like it, it's dark nature and rough exterior.. I think it's a very good picture! I would be very interested in how this print would turn out perhaps I'd dim the addition of grain a little, but that's taste!

I think over all it's good, and unique. Once you start processing sometimes it's hard to know when to stop, and you can loose all perspective. My comment would be to try a little darker on the left, eliminate the hot spot under the eye, and remove the glare / reflection from the eye. I would also try reducing the grain a little, But without trying it and going back and forth hard to guess which would look better.

My thoughts were; too dark on the left side, is the overexposed spot under the eye just bothering me? And i wasn't too happy about the crop..but as you said Sam; sometimes you work on a pic too long to be able to see if it's improving or not.
It's nice to try something different though, i've done thousands of flower- and travelshots but this is one of my first portraits.

Personally, I like the eye, it's strong. I'm not crazy about the pitch black in so much of the shot. Dark's OK, but it would be nice to see a tiny bit of detail. I don't know if this is a crop, but if it is, it might be nice to have a tiny bit more room over the eye,
Humble as they are, those are my thoughts. Simone, I'm very sorry for your loss, I know that it can take a long time for things to feel normal again. Sometimes, they never do - life is simply different. Anyway, take care, don't be a stranger. :feelgood
