Sunrise, Heron & Rain

Truth in Photography statement: This is a composite shot. The heron came by 12 minutes later and I caught a funky shot of it with my 100 macro. I tried pasting it into the sunrise and liked it.

With all due respect to those who can nail shots like this for real, my primary intent is to create things that inspire people's appreciation of nature, without making it seem like I accomplished something that I didn't.

I notice I'm feeling apologetic, (almost guilty :bow) even though I'm being upfront about the shot. I would appreciate your feedback.

It's a fantastic capture Dane. The Heron gives it so much more character. Well done!

The scene however need a bit leveling.

    Thanks for sharing.

Don't apologize. You did some post processing with it and pasted something in the photo. So what! It looks awesome and I think you accomplished what you were intending so in the end, if you are satisfied, that is all that matters. Art for art's sake. thumb.gif

P.S. I wish I had your post processing skills.

you did a very good job and if I could ever get the skill with PS I would be doing this same thing a lot but PS hates me :cry rules and art do not go hand and handthumb.gif --and those you always state the rule have very little art

    Thanks, Dick (Aruba, huh? wow!)

I see what you mean about levelling - but that is an illusion from the opposite shore angling away, rather than an unlev horizon. I will sometimes "level" this illusion, as long as it doesn't make the trees tilt. IN this case, it wasn't conifers, but reeds in the water, which are vertical. IF a reed tilts, then so must its reflection (in the opposite direction). That's my take on it, anyway.

Thanks to all of you for your feedback on this shot - I am new to sumgmug and didn't know if I was showing it to a bunch of rabid purists or not. Phew!

It is a nice shot (shots!!)! I love the colors and I think the heron belongs in it!

Psst, if you have smugmug (or another hosting site) you should embed the pictures in the posts here on DGrin. Here's How. This way quality is much better and you can post mulitple pictures in one post.

    thanks, Christina!

I don't have a website yet, but want to do one soon, so I saved the link. SmugMug is one of my top two choices. The other one I'm considering is SiteBuildIt, which is heavy on the marketing end and building traffic on the site. The benefit of that is obvious, but they don't have templates for photo galleries and the marketing think isn't my style.
