These were shot at a local lake, Joe Pool Lake, in the Dallas area.

And a redhead and muscovy duck for good measure.

I used to have two muscovy ducks. When we got them as ducklings they were so cute (and normal looking). Eventually they got beautiful black and white feathers...and that uh...lovely...vulture like head. rolleyes1.gif

I think this one is a cool shot, the water looks almost frozen.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

I am not very knowledgeable about waterfowl. I couldn't for the life of me identify those muscovy ducks. Every pic I saw of the muscovy had a little red around the eyes but nothing bulbous like the ones in my picture. Then I happened across a post on muscovys that mentioned the bulbous skin around the eyes and beak. But man it was hard for me to identify. I'm glad I got it right.

You wouldn't happen to know what this guy is, do you?

Thanks Phyxius. I will look up a black scoter. thumb.gif

Edit: I found it. It is an American Coot. When I googled Black Scoter it took me to a great site. That is where I found the Coot.
