Thanks for the nice comments, folks. Glaciers are pretty amazing.
Gus, the glacier noise you've probably heard of is when glaciers that end in the sea "calve" off huge hunks of ice. When the big hunks hit the water, it sounds like an explosion. Very impressive.
Unfortunately, there's nothing in the pictures to give it scale. But I'm going to estimate that spire that broke off was three stories tall.
(Man, I need to go back and reprocess these. )
