I headed down to the beach late today to get a few hours of wind surfing in, by the time i arrived at Whitfords which is a popular wind/kite surfing beach just north of Perth the wind had dropped to about 10 knots and i felt it wasn't worth setting up the board, since i had a camera in the car i decided to make my first attempt at shooting kite surfers. (with a camera:rofl)

By time i got to the beach there were still a few people persisting in the light conditions. Bout now i realized i would need more glass for actions shots not close ups like this.

Thanks Steve, had a chat today to a guy about my age (60ish) who had been out for a few hours said it was easier to learn than windsurfing and not as tiring on the arms.

You have a gray haze affecting the bottom half of your pictures... wonder what it could be?

Judging by the chop, I'd say this is blowing sand :uhoh Not good for cameras or lenses.

Anyhow, stretching the histogram (using levels to bring the arrows under the tail of the hump) will help. also a bit of "fog setting" USM (20/40/0 opacity to taste) will also help.

You can get rid of most of that "gray", but since this image was already sharpened you have to go lightly on the fog USM ne_nau.gif

Thanks Owen and Oldtime for pointing that out, I can't see it probably has more to do with my tri focasl needing a new prescription. Using a reasonably new camera (canon a640) the results in some cases are not on a par with an older nikon P&S used previously
