Huge Elvis fan here. Used to go to Graceland twice a year for many years. Stopped going before I got into photography. Seeing these pics makes me want to return once again. I looooooove Memphis. Probably my favorite city in the states.
Thanks for sharing.

youre welcome seneca
actually the house
called graceland mansion
by todays standards
isnt huge at all
though it makes the most of 2 stories
(the tv pool and jungle rooms being in the basement)
and im not sure of specifics
but its not as large as my moms 6000 sq ft house was
yet i wouldnt turn it down
if someone offered to let me move there from my 1500 sq ft apartment
the decor is to die for though
its w i l d !
(if youre into that sort of thing)
what is strange to me
is the location
its not in the nicestcleanestsafest area of town
but im sure back in the day it must have been

and by the way
they didnt allow flash photography
i took these with a kodak easyshare
before i bought my nikon d80

My husband and I had the privilege of living in Memphis for a year, and we loved every moment of it. It's an amazing mid-sized city. Large enough for plenty of bustling life, but small enough to retain a unified character. We still try to make a trip back at least once a year.

that was one strange house, I went a few years ago...I liked the outside rooms where his office and stuff were...where all the business took place.
nice pictures! unfortunately I wasn't into photography when I went, so I have no photos of the house.

I had no idea that Graceland was originally "out of town" until I spent a night on a ride-along with one of Memphis' Finest, and he explained that Graceland was not in Memphis Proper when purchased by Elvis. As such, the area wasn't as developed as the City and Elvis had relatively little company and few "neighbors", so it wasn't an area of concern like it is today.
There's a little information on it at this site: http://www.elvis.com.au/presley/biography/elvis_presley_graceland.shtml
Cheers,
