My first man-eating BIFs

O.k. so they are not man-eaters. But, I have not been able to be around raptors at all so seagulls are the best that I can offer.

This is hard to do. I don't know how you all pan and zoom and get all those great shots. I have so many images with cropped wings and heads.

If it were easy, it wouldn't be fun, but you're on the right track. Just keep practicing on the gulls and sooner or later a more interesting bird will come along, then you'll be ready for the prize winning shot. :D:D

    Hey David,

Pretty good for your first BIFs. The only way to learn how is to practice, practice, practice.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Since I just did my own first BIF shots I understand! Here's my thread. Birds are evil aren't they? Harry will say they aren't, but that's because he's got them charmed. mwink.gif

These weren't taken around Waldorf though were they? I don't remember a suspension bridge around here. (Bay Bridge?) I found my first bald eagles the other day too (also...uh "pictured" in the other thread). They were never really in range of my lens, but I have it good authority that there are a few places they frequent. Calvert Cliffs State Park, Chesapeake Ranch Estates (2 beaches, but Driftwood Beach is more likely to have them up close than Seahorse Beach) and of course, Flag Ponds. I'll be getting out to these places as often as possible, so if you ever want someone to shoot with let me know.

Yep - Bay Bridge to Oakland. Daughter and I were hanging about outside of the ferry building feeding the local birdlife.

Haha, so you DID cheat! You had your daughter lure them in with snacks. mwink.gifD
