New Year Hiking

So I took off with a couple friends New Years Eve and did a hike up a local mountain to usher in the new year. My camera died from the cold early on, but warming it and the batteries up in inner pockets allowed for a shot or two, although it resets its settings when it freezes like this, so I wound up shooting at 1mp. :cry I could have changed it, but I was rushing to get the shot with completely numb hands before the camera died again, so I'm stuck with what I got. These are nothing incredible to look at, but it was an incredible time. :D The moon was almost full, so we didn't even have to use our headlamps. It was some incredible lighting for night shots, but my camera sucks, so I wasn't able to take advantage of it. The wind picked up when we hit the summit, so we weren't able to get our fireworks lit, and getting off the summit ridge was tricky in the blowing snow, but it was well worth it! I really need to get an SLR though. :cry

Here's Beth, Morgan, and Joe, early in the hike.

And the summit shot at or around midnight, with Allan and Morgan. A three-second exposure (maximum on my camera) with Palmer below, Wasilla just out of the picture in the upper right, and the lights of Anchorage peeking around Bear Mountain on the left.

you guys are hardcore, no supplemental oxygen on the summit! lol3.gif

Sounds like a great trip. Sorry for the bad joke, I'm on a serious himalaya/mountineering book reading kick.
