It's just that there's active voting going on here....we don't want side banter to influence the votes, that's all. :D

Yer right, Doc. There have been 1138 registered users who have shown activity on this board since the first of the year. That is, in the past 5 days.

That's about 7% voting. Heck, our lazy electorate turns out a higher percentage for mid-term elections!

Question by Private Message. We don't answer PMs - why? The question can benefit MANY, so it's just best if you post in the forums, please.

On choosing the photos for for photo of the year, do you look at all of the photos on Smugmug, or how do you pick the finalists?
They were entered. The entries are all in this voting thread. The entry thread is here:

    I voted!
    I voted!

I stumbled on the thread for the photo of the year. Then, I logged in and ended up on the main page and couldn't find the thread again. I wish this was easier to spot.

Anyway, I've been gone too long and have not kept up on the great shots this year. I've just been working too hard at the day job.

Congratulations to all who entered! A great bunch of photographs!

    Good luck!

Come on folks. We should have more votes than this!

These entries are all winners. I wouldn't mind having each of them printed, framed and hanging on my walls. (that, and because my own are horrible! lol3.gif).

Really outstanding work this year, all of you. And anyone who hasn't voted yet... what's holding you back? Go to the thread linked to the first page of this thread, take a peek at these and make your choice.

Well, if you want mine printed on your wall, it's just $5 :D

Heck, if you're in the LA area, I'll even sign it for you.

Seriously, though, there's some great stuff here. I really need to step it up in order to come close to these other guys, I think-- which is what it's all about, getting better at what I want to do mwink.gif

how could we possibly make it flashier? It's stickied in 2 forums and on a site-wide announcement?

should the photos be embedded in the thread (almost a little late for that...) and the next round of voting, the top 10 from this vote, will definitely have photos embedded in the thread. 34 was just a little too much. headscratch.gif

Yeah I never ever ever never notice or pay attention to those announcements. No what you need is a flashy picture somewhere drawing attention to this thread. Something done up real nice, maybe andy dressed as rupaul or something like that. You know something to really draw the people in.

Common we are all photographers, most of us have cs or cs 2...... Someone should be able to do something to bring the crowds in. I mean common, even you slow down to get a good look at a car wreck I'm sure. :D Anything to get votes right, besides andy's always been willing to go the extra mile to help the cause around here mwink.gif.
