I find the first one very pleasing - seems (on this monitor at work) to have a lot of fine tonal definition. I like it.
Not too sure about the second one - just can't put my finger on why it doesn't appeal to me as much.

I agree with Scott. The first one is very nice but the second seems to be lacking contrast or something. It alosi looks as though the focus is off a tad?

The second one looks like either it's out of focus, or it's been over-processed (perhaps excessive jpeg compressions?). The first one is great.
