Kayaking in the winter (not me)

I asked these to guys if I could take a few pics of them, They said sure.
It was a overcast day, 15 degree temps. I asked why do this? They said
that they had just bought the kayaks and wanted to try them out. I asked
why on the Mississippi river? They said it's the only open water around.

I took these pics with a D rebel, and mostly a Canon 70-200L f4. A few pics
were taken with a 75-300is, and a couple with a Tamron 1.4 converter.

Thanks for looking.

This is a cool series of images, Dave. Makes me wish I was a better kayaker.

I was reading in Outdoor Photgrapher or somewhere about shooting birds with long 500mm teles with a DSLR from a kayak. I am not that confident of not turning over and getting myself and my equipment dunked. These guys obviously weren't worried about that at all.

Nice color and clarity of your images.

I have never been in a kayak. To me it look's like riding a unicycle,
you either can or you can't. No inbetween. I put my camera in tupperware
with a lid on when I take it out in my 16 foot bass boat.

    Thanks for looking.

It was cold. I don't get it, tomorrow it's supposed to be 15 degrees warmer.
To each their own. There is a big football (US) game around here tomorrow, maybe that's way they were out today.

Either of the last two. Nice and sharp, your images look excellent! That yellow sure pops against the winter background, doesn't it?

Beautiful shots Dave! I too like the colorful outfits and kayaks against the greyish background in all the shots!

The first thing that came to my mind is, it's too bad you didn't get thier names or e-mail address. I bet they would really like to have a copy of those!

    Thanks folks.

Sam, I thought about asking them for the info but these guys were
all business, as well they should be getting into a kayak at those temps.

My wife has made me some business/personal cards with my name, email, and
pbase web site printed on them. Now I just have to remember to carry some
with me. I could have put one on their car. Next time I'll do better.

    Dave,

Hard to do better then you did! clap.gif

PS: I just made up some cards. Took a tip from Andy and have one with, and one without my phone number. Both have my e-mail address. I just make them up on my printer, and cut them up as needed.

    Hey Dave!
    Very good kayak shots!

I love the rich colors, the sharpness, the composition! I'd only note that they make me a bit sad... I wish I could go kayaking right now! :-)

    Thanks so much for sharing!
    Take care!
