Assignment #20: Low Angle

With the holidays over I hope everybody had enough time to celebrate, catch up, rest and get new stamina for the new class:-)
The first assignment of 2007 is gonna be a bit techie, but considering we all got a lot of rest I think we can pull it.
OK, here' it goes: Low Angle.
For those unfamiliar with the term, this means you need to place your camera low to the ground, much lower than the usual human height. You may then point your camera parallel to the ground or slightly (or boldly) upwards.
Please note, that low angle does not mean closeup/macro. :nono:deal
It's also advantageous to use wide angle lens at this point, since a tele lens shooting a remote subject will diminish the difference in the vantage points.
As always: fresh pictures, moderate post-processing.
For the rest of the basic rules and index please check out this sticky.
Let's get low! :-) :wink

My Shots
Exactly like that:-)
Now, just get a fresh version, and you're on the board:-)
Found it difficult to get the horizon straight, trying to frame the shot whilst lying down. I think a small bean bag or something might help when shooting so close to the ground that a tripod simply won't work. Well that's my two cents worth.
Nikolai, not sure if this post is 'allowed' so I wont be upse it you remove it.:D

Great, congratulations on submitting the first valid assignment entry, thanks!
As to the tillted horizon: in this case I don't even mind as much, it creates a "slope":-)
And you're right, getting low angle shots can be cumbersome. A beanbag or a good tripod can be a tremendous help. And you can use a small level to ensure the even hozion if you want to:-)
Nikolai,
I'm not sure this is 'fresh enough'. I posted it as an example of how it can be hard to get a straight horizon when shooting on an un-even ground.
This shot was taken in Sep 06, so I think that counts me out of the challenge.
Sorry to confuse. In future, I won't post unless the shot falls into the right time frame.
Cheers

Ah, OK, not to worry. Just try to get a fresh one next time:-)
Thanks!
It's true you need to get low for the both kids and pets:-)

Words are cheap, where are the shots?
After I took the picture he went away.
He doesn't like to be photographed !...:D
Thanks for the entry!
(Did you get him to sign a model release? )
To be heard you must be seen!
These are cool shots, but let me ask you: are they fresh?
Also, judging by the the of the image the cameras are positioned approximately at the waist level. While this is lower than the conventional "eye level" and shows the effort, it's not really a low angle implied in the assignment.
Hope to see more "qualified" shots soon:-)
Heres a few I took this morning.
#1 Hey, look it's Big Boy!
#2 Need a truck? Come to Fletch's!:ivar
#3 Quick, Move before the camera gets wet!
#4 Now would be a really bad time to drop the camera... :flush
#5 This is probably my fav.

Great entries man!
I like the fast water (I used to be a white water rafter in my previous life:-)!
All my racing images at the "launch" are shot on tripods fixed at 20" above the track surface, the guard rail precludes me from going lower. They were shot this past season, April through October.
To be heard you must be seen!
I see and understand the 20" :-)
However, one of the primary rules of our class is to post fresh shots only (unless you have a question whether a particular type of a shot qualifies as a subject).
HTH
Shot today.

Sorry, part of the learning curve, I've since read the rules and hope to do better.
To be heard you must be seen!

Nice entries, thanks!
IMHO, the second one can be turned into an interesting image (at least if you have time and desire to PS it a bit :-)

Of course I forgot my tripod, so I proped the lense hood up on the tripod mount I had on the camera. A little overexposed, but I like the overall clarity.
Camera: Nikon D80, 18-55 f3.5 stocker & 18-200 Nikon VR.... with a small collection of filters..
My Smugmug.. STILL Under construction.
