I have seen prints on a metalic ?paper? anyway, the shiny surface comes through the print. Does anyone know where I might be able to locate this material and/or the specs?

Thanks

Thanks for the tip. I have an email question in to them. We'll see if they respond.

Thanks. They describe their metalic paper as leaving a pearl finish. The medium I'm looking for has an actual shiny, silver metallic finish that shows through. But I did order a print from them to see what it is. I'm looking for something to give the candy paint jobs and chrome more depth on the cars I shoot.

    Thanks again both of you.

The mpix.com prints do have a pearl finish but they are silver colored. Makes for a very special print.

I have ordered two prints on metallic paper using a print lab called ColorInc. It really is a nice look on the right photograph. One thing I did notice on one of the prints is that the lighter areas in the photograph (white) really blow out using this paper or this area lost more of the detail than in the original pic I sent to them for processing. The pics I had done on metallic were color. You may want to ask them about this and if it is common. I have used this company for several prints and have been really pleased with their products. You may want to check them out. They use Fuji paper if that makes a difference to you. I know it does to some people.

If you sign up to be one of their customers they will periodically run a half price sale on their enlargements of 11x14 or bigger. Hope this helps.

mpix uses the Kodak metalic paper. I have an 8x10 ordered from them and I'll see how it comes out. I've found a print lab not far from here that uses that paper so I'm going to make a trip over to talk directly to the technicians there and take a look at some samples. I did find it is not a paper I can use in an inkjet printer so I'll have to establish a relationship with a lab. Hopefully this local one. I like hands on.

Thanks for the info Shane. I'll have to look into the Fuji paper.
