shame you couldn't get shallower depth of field, i find the background rather distracting, especially the door knob.

Even with the description, I'm still clueless as to what she's doing...
I think it's called "lapidary" or cutting gems. Here, the lady has a stone mounted on a stick (with clay or glue or something, I don't know) and she presses it against the wheel in front of here. The wheel is impregnated with diamond dust and acts as an abrasive to polish the facets of the stone. Somewhere in the process a raw stone is cut to make the facets. And, that's about all I know about the process.
