So it's not quite the glossy magazine, but I have to say I was really thrilled when I got a call from National Geographic Online asking if they could use the photos I had taken of my friend Jill paragliding in their issue this month.
I just saw the article and needed to celebrate somehow. It's too late to call anyone so I'm posting to you kind folks.
So thanks so much for reading! :barb

How exciting! Wow...what a way to start the day. Great shots. This is certainly something most of us don't see everyday. Thanks for sharing.

Jigger,
I did the original shoot for an article about Jill in Tricycle Magazine last year. It was my first time being published. They wanted both close-ups and full wing shots. Things move quickly in paragliding given she has to go with the wind so I was in charge of nothing. I had 2 cameras around my neck (Nikon): a d2x with the 17-44mm/f2.8 and d70 and a d70 with the 70-200VR/f2.8. I used an sb800 on the d2x for a slight fill flash when I did close shots and she was backlit.
Here are the rest of the photos from the shoot

Looks like you did a good job with following the action - not easy when it's happening fast, and you have to cover some ground with all that gear around your neck!

great shots trish you did it!!.
It's the thing that surprises me most about photography: just how physical it is. Even if I'm shooting an simple office party I am working my butt off. It's so much different than my prior sit-on-my-butt-and-think-really-hard job. Very satisfying.
Thanks again everyone for your kind words. You guys are really awesome.
Jigger, I can't say what would be the best flash for your 300D. I hear good things about the speedlights, but sadly, I'm a Nikon girl. There are lots of Canon folks here who can help, though.
cheers,
Trish
Congrats! Looks like your hard worked paid off! Much of photography is telling a story and you certainly did with these pictures as NG rightly recognized.
