This is one of my more popular local pics I have taken.(Popular with the locals)
I have never been happy with the earlier fix I did of it.
Sooooo I've taken it back to the "drawing board".
Taken with my Sony 828 back in Jan 2005.
Fixing the hue's and such as been a biaotch! :splat

This is the original Purple fringe....blue hue and all.

Here is what I have so far......still a work in progress.
Beginning to wonder with the lack of color if I should just convert it to BW? :scratch

I'm open to ideas on this! :dunno

    Ok your comments? ne_nau.gif

How does this look as a final fix? headscratch.gif
Stripped it to BW....then selective colored only the true areas of color.
Pond....patch of leaves under the tree and a HINT of green on the Evergreens in the BG.
Also dropped the brightness about 40%

    Thanx everyone!

Maybe I'm to fussy with my work? headscratch.gif
To me the original fix had too much purple CA/Fringe and several spots the snow looked blown out.
I thought the last pic I posted(the latest fix) was soo much better?
    Now I'm confused! ne_nau.gif

BTW: My Mom like this photo a lot too.
When She passed away I put a copy of this photo in Her casket to take with Her. :cry

I like the straight out of the camera shot best becuase the blue/purple hues make it seem cold and the side adds some breathign room and leads you to the bug bush adding emphais on it.
At least that's how it is for me.

I agree - I think the original is the best image. Composition wise, it works because you have the slope of the hill leading you down to the tree. The tree is offset from the center, so that's better too. More background, pond etc supports it well and puts it in clearer context. The blue/purple fringe is great because it gives a sense of coldness, which is possibly something you want this picture to convey? Great shot.

I think the composition of the first (original) shot is far superior. I also like the blue toning effect you got. That said, the contrast, exposure, and sharpness of the final edit looks technically much better than the first. So, I would apply the same brightness/contrast corrections to the original but leave the toning and composition alone.

I guess I'm just going to have to be the one that's different!rolleyes1.gif

Were this my image I would go with the composition of the out-of-camera image and apply the color corrections found in the last image posted, less the blue of the water. That splash of color is so distracting it was the first thing I noticed when I saw that image.

I'm guessing, based on the size and position of it, that the tree is the intended focus.
