I will make a trip soon to L.A. and want to get myself a 70-200 F2.8L IS, where do you recommend me to buy it?

I know B&H is a great option, but it's in NY, and as my credit cards are issued in other country it gets very tediuos and complicated the process to buy it there and ship it to L.A. to a friends address.

Suggestions? :dunno

If I buy local, Calumet is where I go. They have had everything I needed (wanted) in stock.
One of my friends buys at Samy's without any problems.
BelAir Camera is another local store, I've never shopped there before so I can't comment on their stock or service.
I'm sure the local photogrphers on dgrin will give you some more insight....
    edit: typo..Thanks David

Samy's is great. They have several locations out here, I've only been into the Santa Ana one & hear that the Santa Monica store is something to behold (sounds like a mini-B&H). Calumet also has a few stores around (again, I used the S.A. one) & is a good place to go to. I've also heard Canoga Camera is very good.

I agree, for my money Samy's is the only store worth shopping!

I don't know of one in Santa Monica. There's a small branch in Venice but the large, main store is on Fairfax Avenue in the heart of LA.

11doh.gif The Fairfax one was what I was thinking of for the big store. I've seen the Venice one (only used the lot to park after hours for shooting a show--how ironic--in a theater behind the store); it looks about the same size as the Santa Ana one, still a good place to look with a good selection.
