    Nice Set...

Love the bins, The building in the sun, the gull and the night shot. They are my favorites of the bunch.

OK, first question: Did you use the tripod ring on the 300, or mount the camera to the tripod?

I used the tripod ring, no way I can use the camera :(. My tripod does not cut it. I got great shots from a Bogen 3001BN and acratech.

I have ordered feisol 3401 legs and Kirk BH3 - this hobby sucks.

    Oh, thanks.

I should learn from you guys. Including the human element always makes a photo very interesting.

    Nice work Anand!

Good to see some sun in SFO too. My favorite is the tilted building.

For 300mm and up I like the Gitzo 1325 legs with an Arca Swiss head and a Wimberly side kick. Not the lightest to carry around, but stable.

Hmm, it is a 3lb 300mm f/4 IF ED lens, not the 300 mm f/2.8. I hope the feisol is enough for that :). What do you think?

I had never heard of the Feisol so I googled and came up with this page from the Nikonians discussing Feisol tripods which are made in Taiwan of Carbon -fibre and are not available via retail in this country. Apparently you can buy them via ebay or by dealing with the company directly via PAYPal.
One poster on the Nikonian thread compared them point by point with Gitzo and felt that the feisol was a much better value than the Gitzo ( it is a lot cheaper), but not as well made or as smooth in operation. He declared the Gitzo was like a work of art. For me, ease of set up and take down are what really determine a tripods value and usefullness after the image quality needs are met.

If the Feisol tripod can support your bag with a hook for weighting, the Acratech head should be adequate for a 300mm lens and a Nikon body.

    Pathfinder

Yes, that thread is one of the main reasons to buy the tripod. I ordered it online from feisol.com. Lots of contended reviewers in dpreview as well. I bought a kirk BH-3 instead of the Acratech. The kirk got some good reviews by Thom Hogan.

Both arrive in about 2 weeks. I will post a review. Yes the Gitzo 1228 (?) and acratech would be a great combination, right now I am cutting corners for almost comparable equipment with minor quirks. I will post a review once I start to use them.

I've taken the liberty of copying this thread to the Accessories forum, for those who've never heard of Feisol. Obelix, I look forward to your review!
