Typical disclaimer of lousy high school lighting (barely 1600) and as these shots are for the parents and the kids I'm a lot less discriminating then if shooting just for myself.

Yeah the field lighting is horrible at HS. However, I think you did a great job.

I agree with Seneca - the colors look good, you followed the rule of action/face/ball, good crops since most shots were two-person subjects. What lens did you use? If the lighting is as bad as you say, this looks like a 2.8 or 2.0 to me...

    Great shots for sure!

Thanks Bobcool- The lighting was focused for football. As a soccer pitch is wider there was a stop or two drop-off at the sidelines. Good call on the lens... Canon 70-200 2.8.

If you need to shoot the matches (i.e. your son or daughter is on the team), then I would go with a short-fast lens and then wait for the ation to fill the frame (a 50mm 1.8 is about $80). Allbeit not a very good solution, but at least you'll get something ... it just won't have that long lens isolation/shallow DOF feel to them. A shot with a messy background is better than no shot at all.

You take care and thanks for looking.

Well ... you gotta hop when you only got one leg. By the end of the match the one legged fella was so tired that he just had to lay down and crawl around the pitch. They lose a few games but it's not or lack of effort.

Gary - I merged your two HS Soccer threads... I was doing it kind of quickly, and now that I did it, I hope I didn't bungle it up too much. I was just kind of moderating in robot-mode and when I saw 2 threads w/the same title I instinctively merged.
